Wedding Dress Wednesday: Claire Pettibone's Kristene

Happy Wednesday, all!

And a happy May 1st!  Yes, that's right--May is here.  Can you believe it?  Time seems to just fly by these days, so why not take a few minutes to slow down and clear your mind.

What better way to do that than to look a something pretty?  That's what I did last Friday, and boy did I find something pretty.  During a ten minute power break at work, I opened up my lastest email from Ruffled and was not disappointed in the least.  They were showcasing "Gold and Glam Wedding Ideas."  Not only are the styling and details of this photoshoot incredible, but I found the dress itself to be absolutely stunning.  It is a vintage-Victorian-inspired sheath gown designed by the wonderful Claire Pettibone.  Feast your eyes on "Kristene."

Claire Pettibone - Kristene

Fun fact: this was the first bridal gown Pettibone ever designed.  It was for her friend Kristene, thus the dress's namesake.

These is so much texture and layering and detail in this dress that one could only really appreciate up close.  Be sure to check out the hemline--it's shaped like a heart.  What I especially love about the photoshoot (by Springvine Design and Crystal Stokes Photography) featured on Ruffled is cake.  The three-layered cake, created by Sky's the Limit Cake, mimics the patterns of the dress perfectly.  Such a lovely idea!

A great thing about this gown is that I can see it working for several different styles of brides.  The first, as is mentioned on the Pettibone site, is a vintage Victorian style.  It's Old World glamourous and gothic while staying feminine and sultry.  Second, a 1920's-art-nouveau style.  There's a definitely flapper feel with the multi-layered fabric, sheath silhouette and the broad, straight neckline.  And finally, a bohemian chic style.  No poofs or frills; just long, straight lines with a few organic details.

What do you all think?  Love it as much as I do?  Leave me some other pretty distractions in the comments :)
