Wedding Day Song Ideas: Van Morrison, The Temptations, Louis Armstrong, & Phil Collins

TGIF!  It's been a very long week and it's almost time for the weekend.  The weather will be a bit stormy tonight, but that's nothing a few good tunes can't make up for.  Here are four to start you off right.

Van Morrison - Someone Like You

 The Temptations - My Girl

Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World

Phil Collins - You'll Be In My Heart

And of course these would all make wonderful wedding day song choices.  Recessional, first dance, you name it, it'll work.  See the whole playlist here.  Enjoy!

Wedding Dress Wednesday: Justin Alexander 8465 & 8483

Happy Wednesday, all!

Hope you're having a great week so far--half way to the weekend!  I'm certainly looking forward to the weekend.  Ive had plans for a weeks to go tulip picking at Burnside Farms in Haymarket.  Can't wait!

This week's wedding dress is one that I have seen pop up again and again all over Pinterest and wedding blogs.  Perhaps you've seen it too.  I'm talking about Justin Alexander's 8465 (and 8483--the floor-length style).

I can see why it's so popular because I love it myself.  Who can resist a perfect tulle a-line dress with lace applications and bead detailing on the bodice??  So feminine and flirty!  See this dress on a real bride over on Ruffled's featured Alabama Art Museum Wedding.  Just oh-so-lovely for an outdoor spring (or even summer!) wedding.

Do you love this dress too?  Would you get the floor length or the tea length?  I personally would go with the tea length so I could prance around like a ballerina.  But that's just me :)  I'd also pick the Natural/Coffee color combo over the Natural/Ivory (I think it gives the applique a bit more drama) but both are equally stunning!!

Leave some comments.  See ya next week.

Wedding Dress Wednesday: Johanna Johnson

Happy Wednesday, friends :)

Hope the week is going well for you all!  For me personally it's going a little slow, but that's only because I can't wait for the weekend--I'm going to New York City!!  Should be a fun little day trip!

Today's bridal beauty is backless and blue.  That's right, I said blue!  Now, any traditional bride knows you need "something blue" on your big day, but how many of them make that "something" their dress?  Not many!  In fact, most might think it's a strange choice.  But I think this one is in great taste.  This dress is by an Australia couture designer named Johanna Johnson.

This picture popped up on Style Me Pretty's Facebook page last week (photo by Jodi McDonald Photography).  SMP was "drooling" over this beautiful blue dress, and I must admit that I have been too.  Pale blue and sparkling--what's not to like??  The simple, long Kristi Bonnici veil compliments it nicely.  This definitely passes as wedding day appropriate attire in my book.  I can imagine a spring or summer bride wearing this for an understated yet elegant outdoor wedding.

Side note: Is anyone else reminded of Hilary Swank in the navy blue backless Guy Laroche number she wore to the 2005 Academy Awards?

Modest in the front, jaw-dropping in the back.  How many of you would go for something backless?  How many of you would go for a colored dress?  Either way, it's definitely a look for a bride who wants to break away from the pack while still letting their inner Old Hollywood star shine.
