Wedding Dress Wednesday: Justin Alexander 8688 (Bonus: 8681)

Happy Wednesday, Friends!

Hope you're enjoying the unusually cool weather this week. I know I am!

As is often the case, I found myself browsing the Justin Alexander website this week. I was there checking out the 2014 Bridal Lookbook, and it did not disappoint! There were so many beautiful silhouettes and intricate details for me to swoon over... maybe TOO many. It was almost impossible to pick just one to talk about today.

After much deliberation, I have decided to go with number 8688 from the 2014 Justin Alexander Collection. I almost went with a very similar dress, number 8681 (BONUS: see below!), but when I saw the 8688 I knew I was done!

What captivated me about this dress? First and foremost: the neckline. I have never seen one quite like this satin bateau collar before. I love how it tapers into a v-back, almost like a reverse tuxedo. It gives it a more regal look that I think would work nicely for a new-age White Tie wedding. I know what you're saying--white tie has been phased out! But what if you could bring it back?? This could be a dress to do it.

Second, the satin basket-weave and criss-crossed waist (JA calls it the cummerbund, but no cummerbund I've ever seen looked half as flattering as this). It's not only unique and eye-catching in the most elegant way, but it will also create a killer hourglass silhouette, and what bride wouldn't want that?? It's an absolute must-have!

Last, but not least, I love a good fit-n-flare skirt with a chapel length train, and this is one of the best I've seen. So feminine and fashionable. Plus the lace detailing is spectacular around the trim. There are so many interesting parts of this dress to look at--none of which (in my humble opinion) seem to be competing. It all flows together so nicely to make a truly one of a kind gown. I really love it.

BONUS!

Alright, alright, I just can't resist. I love the 8681 too much not to talk about it too!!

I like to think of these two gowns as sisters: somewhat different but equally stunning. 8681 shares the satin basket-weave waist, v-back and lace bodice, but trades the bateau satin collar for a sweetheart neckline with cap sleeves. It also swaps a lace fit-n-flare skirt for a borderline-mermaid skirt made of tulle and decorated with cascading floral appliques, but keeps the chapel train. Ahh, isn't it lovely!??

If I had to choose between the two, it would be very hard to say the least. It might come down to season in order to pick: 8681 for spring (because of the flowers) and 8688 for fall. What do you all think... do you agree? Let me know your pick in the comments!

Thanks for reading!
